And who does what on the wedding day?
When you arrive at Scorrier House, we will take care of setting up the furniture for your wedding ceremony if you have chosen to have it here, or for the wedding reception if not.
Here's how it works on the day itself:
The wedding morning
We provide breakfast for guests staying in the main house (please see our article on Breakfast).
Any supplier you've booked, including hair and makeup, caterer, photographer, wedding cake supplier, etc., will normally arrive from about 9 a.m to set up. One of our team will be on hand to open the house up and coordinate where required.
The Ceremony
If you have booked registrars to conduct your ceremony, there is a legal interview with the bride and groom (separately) which they will officiate.
If you would like the bar to be open before your wedding ceremony please let us know. However, please note that it is illegal to have alcoholic drinks consumed in the same location as a civil ceremony. Any guests buying drinks will therefore have to consume their drinks outside or in the bar room itself.
If you have recorded music at your wedding ceremony please think about who will be playing/pausing the music.
Post ceremony
After the wedding ceremony, we warmly encourage you to savor every moment of your special day without any concerns about the small details!
If both your ceremony and wedding reception are due to take place in the hall, please read our article about the changeover of the hall.
Our bar staff will open the bar and serve drinks until closing (11.45 unless a late licence is purchased). They will also clear up glasses, pick up any litter and generally keep the place clean and tidy during the day.
Wedding Breakfast
We urge you to discuss the details of your wedding breakfast with your caterers as they will be overseeing this part of your day. Please see our article 'Questions to ask your caterer'.
While the wedding breakfast is taking place, our bar staff will be on hand to serve drinks from the bar, table wine and toasting drinks, depending on any drinks packages you have purchased.
Evening Food or Desert Tables
It will usually be your caterer who lays out any evening food or desert tables, however, we'll have staff on hand to help put up tables and lay out food where required.
If you are including your wedding cake as evening food, please check with your caterer whether they will be cutting and laying out the cake.
Evening
As the evening progresses, your next wave of suppliers will arrive, including your DJ or band (or both). We'll be on hand to show them where to set up. Our team will also switch on indoor and outdoor lights before dark.
End of the night
It's been a long and tiring day, so the last thing you need is additional tasks at the end of the night!
Once our bar staff have closed down the bar, one member of our team will stay up to ensure all lights are off, windows are shut and doors locked.
Unless a late licence is purchased Scorrier House will close at 1 a.m. please ensure that your suppliers and guests are aware of this and they remove equipment and book taxis before 1 a.m.
The next day
We'll serve breakfast again from 8 a.m. for guests staying in the main house. All that remains is to make sure you have all of our possessions. Leave all the tidying to us!
Unless an extension is purchased Scorrier House will close at midday the day after your wedding. Any equipment left by your suppliers will need to be picked up before midday or the following day from 8 a.m.
